• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Doesn't necessarily have to be "organic", but what is a good source for a variety of rubs and sauces?

Would prefer some organic options but like I said not a necessity. But at least want natural ingredients.....no high fructose corn syrup poison. :)

I'm very much a noob so I have no idea where the best places are to shop for rubs. Thanks folks!!

In terms of spices and dried seasonings, Penzey's is s great source for ingredients.

In terms of sauces, you're going to have a tough time finding sauces that don't use corn syrup of some kind. It's pretty hard to create a commercially viable sauce without the use of glucose syrup for the viscosity. I make my own sauce when I need to be organic.

Another good place for spices and rubs is Whole Spice. Sign up for the newsletter and you get 20% off your first order and then every 2-3 months they'll email you a code for another 20% off. They also make their own rub blends which are super fresh and I highly recommend the following:
Caribbean Chicken rub- not only for jerk chicken, but excellent on rice and potatoes too! So fragrant!
Napa Valley rub- chicken and sea food.
Steak seasoning- an interpretation of Montreal Steak rub that gets rave reviews every time. As a matter of fact, I used it at a BBQ comp on some flank steak given to us in the "Caveman" category (had to cook only using charcoal or wood). Got 3rd and $100 for it.
Also, many of their rubs are fairly low in salt, like their steak seasoning (last ingredient) which really lets the fresh spices shine. Check 'em out:

Check out the new Heinz natural sauces. We bought a couple to try. Had the Carolina Vinegar style for the first time this weekend on some butts that I made, my wife is hooked. It was pretty good. 4 people ate about 4 lbs of butt and half a bottle of sauce.

Thanks for this. I haven't heard of them before but some of those blends look great. Just got the 20% coupon and am filling up my cart

You will love it! I discovered Whole Spice when I stumbled on their tiny store at the Oxbow Public Market in Napa a few years ago. I opened their sample jar of steak seasoning and the fresh spices just lit up my nose! Awesome stuff. Makes ribeye steak really sing. It's powerful, though, so I only rub one side with the seasoning and olive oil and the other side with balsamic vinegar, sea salt and black pepper. Do that on a Costco prime and you'll never need to go to a steakhouse for great steak again.

Kroger in our area have a pretty decent sized "natural" section. There are quite a few sauces and spices in those isles of our stores.
