• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

RECIPE OF THE WEEK
Oktoberfest Ribs

2 pounds pork spareribs
2 32-ounce jars sauerkraut, rinsed and drained
8 juniper berries
2 large onions, peeled and thickly sliced
2 tart green apples, cored and wedged
1/4 cup brown sugar

Evenly layer ingredients into a large stew pot or Dutch oven in this order: sauerkraut, juniper berries, onion, apples, brown sugar and ribs. Bring to a boil, lower heat, cover and simmer gently for 2-3 hours, until ribs are very tender.

Serves: 6

Wine suggestion: Pour a chilled Gewurztraminer.

Serving suggestion: Serve with sliced rye bread and butter, potato salad and sliced cucumbers in a dill vinaigrette.

I cook large chunks of pork (including ribs) in that way. It's my favorite alternative when the weather goes awry and I can't bbq. I normally throw all sorts of things in there. One day I had ribs, brats, and pork butt cut up into chunks all thrown in the pot. I also put beer in there.

oh man...

I realllly want to go make this now.

This sound like somthing my Dad used to make when I was a kid.I remember liking it very much...gona give this a try this Fall season. Thanks for sharing!!

Now that is an interesting concept.

Would be good with country style strips. Plus would help me ration the 1000 lbs. of Rancher Leanza is longing for .
