• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

I currently have a WSM and before that when I started I had a cheap brinkman to learn on. I really like the WSM due to how efficient it is and that it turns out good food overall. But for some reason I have an itch for an offset. And one under $500 if I were to ever go that route. My question is....from what I have read, and offset is like having a 1950's V8 as far as how much fuel you have to feed it but on the flip side you get great food from being cooked on wood only.
Any insight?

I have a Trailmaster LE It burns 1 3x12 split every 35-45 min in the under 500.00 range as for size and quality I feel it's the best in the class.

Yep, they're good pits for the price.:thumb:

Yeah, I'm just so used to 1/4 bag of coal and 4 chunks of wood running for 10+ hours with no need to touch, hehe. I feel I will be getting in a rather challenging change of actions with an offset but in my mind it screams traditional.

I also have a Trailmaster LE. I'm had no experience with smoking, Just running a propane grill. Best 300 bucks I've spend on cooking equipment! It is the best thing I found at the 300 dollar range. Anything below that It wasn't worth it and the next best thing was $500+.

1. A 1950's V8 will run and run with no worries.

2. An Old Country Wrangler is $500 and is a good looking smoker.

3. What can be wrong by playing with fire and eating good food?

That's just my $0.02 worth.

I had an OK Joe and compared it to the Trailmaster and it was built better with thicker metal all around

So I bought it, it was a great pit
