• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

For all the NYC metropolitan area brothers, has anyone used NYC Firewood? They have fruitwoods and deliver and stack for free. They are located in Amityville. I was wondering if anyone has used them and if they would recommend them? I was curious if their prices were fair as I don't mind paying a good buck for good wood for my Q.

I tried getting them on the phone last summer with no luck. The person i talked to was unable to give me any prices and types of wood. It sounded to me like they were running it out of there house and werent very good at it. Give it a try and if you have any luck i will piggy back for some wood.

I would say the best thing is to P.M. Phil and have him try to contact them directly and get them to offer "The Brethren" a group discount since there are so many of us (many of us are very local). I never pay retail.

I spoke with them last fall. Prices were VERY high. They are running out of their house, not that there's anything wrong with that, but their professionalism is lacking. Thier 4 or 5 year old answered the phone when I called. Other calls and email were not returned. When we last spoke I asked about cherry or apple and the woman - i don't remember her name - said that she had to check with her husband and she'd get back to me. I'm still waiting.

My experience was pretty similar to Rob's and others. Had trouble getting them on the phone-- when I finally spoke with them they weren't all that friendly, and the prices seemed to be on the high side. Got your message, Rob and will get back to you-- been crazy as yesterday was my last day at my old job. Got a few weeks off to figure stuff out before the new one starts.

I'm always looking for some local wood closer to the Island. Have not found any yet, but haven't really done a lot of digging either. I'd appreciate any feedbacl on where some of you guys are getting it currently.

I've been ordering from Peoples Wood in Cumberland Rhode Island. Websites are www.peopleswoods.com or www.naturesownonline.com. I've been satisfied with the quality of the wood and their lump charcoal. It was delivered in a few days. Seemed that shipping came to about $.55/lb.

I am going to give this place a try on Monday.

Ask for Chiro. Tell him you are with the BBQ Brethren and drop my name(The BBQ Guys as he knows us ).
Drive in with a pickup and load up the back. Pick your own wood. prices are reasonable, but include a rack of ribs.

seeing as i have leftovers from the weekend cook i'll have to go today and pick up some wood.
TY Phil

Gman,

Yes they have wood but it's mostly green. You would have to split it and season it for a year yourself. Phil, thanks for the info.
