• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Not sure what to make of this

I don't know if I'm happy or a little ticked off. I orderd from Hawgeyes for a catering gig I had comming up. I was out of yardbird rub and I honestly don't like to cook chicken without it anymore. I placed a simple order of 5lb bulk yardbird rub and some hefferdust (spicewine). I have to cook tonight, and deliver tomorrow.

The package arrived today just as it was supposed to. I went to pick it up off the floor and noticed it was way heavier than it should have been.

I got it open and much to my surprise I found the following:

1 Gallon BluesHawg original sauce
1 Gallon Horizon BBQ sauce
1 Quart BluesHawg Tennesse Red sauce
1 22oz jumbo container of BluesHawg Rub
1 7oz container Smoking Guns BBQ Rub mild

Money wise, I'm sure the order I got is worth more than the order I placed, so Its not like I'm gonna be calling up Hawgeyes and complain. BUT I really needed that Yardbird. I love BH sauces and rubs, infact I'll use that rub on my chicken in place of the Yardbird. But I have no idea if the Smoking Guns Rub is any good or if the Horizon sauce is worth poot.

Also the box contained no invoice of any kind. Never had any problem from Hawgeyes, but from now on I may be getting my yardbird and hefferdust from spicewine Ironworks.

At least they gave me a ton of good BH sauce and rub.

Let's just hope the person that is scratching his head as to why he got a package containing Yardbird rub and Heffer Dust is a member of this forum!

They got orders mixed up, or it's Christmas someplace and it got delivered to your house!!!!!.............Seems like a perfect opportunity to use you superior intelligence to out duel their customer service for MORE free goods, where's my stuff??, you want you stuff back, come and get it!!! But not until Big Brown does something for me!! Oh the fun of it all!!! Good Luck, you know EFU'S at least once!!! Sometimes twice if we enjoy it!!

Well problem is I have a paying gig that I am cooking for right now as we speak. I needed that yardbird rub. So I am breaking into the BluesHawg rub and I tried the smoking guns stuff just cause.

Looks like a mix up. Did you call them? Looks like they will understand that you needed to use what you did to meet your deadline.

Nice getting extras but now your stuck with a huge extra expense PLUS you still don't have your order.

Ya, well I'm not actually stuck with extra expenses. As I won't be paying out of my pocket to send anything back. When I talk to them tomorrow I'll suggest that they send me my order with a prepaid shipping label to send back their stuff. If they don't want to do that I'll simply keep and use all the extra stuff and not be ordering from them again. Well on that note I'll probably not be ordering from them much anymore. Found another online retailer with better prices. And they're a brethren too!

UPDATE:

Talked to hawgeyes today. They are going to send me a prepaid shipping label and I'll be shipping what's left of the wrong order and they will be sending my original order to me. They did exactly what I asked them to do, and in a timely manner. Good customer service, so no flies on that.

However I have found the two main things I order from them (plowboy's products and Spicewine Ironworks products) cheaper at www.greatlakesbbqsupply.com. I will be giving them a try next time. They are a brethren to boot.

Hawgeyes is a good outfit, I am sure it was an honest mistake.

Steve and I appreciate a chance to win your business.

you'll like the smokin guns, I use that on about everything. Yardbird is good stuff too.

I figured Hawgeyes would fix ya up fast.

Gotta give a li'l plug here for Jay's Spicewine products. If any of y'all haven't tried their rubs or sauces y'all are missing out.

Mike, y'all have a nice site & prices & will be placing an order soon.

I ordered a bunch of Tennessee Red last year just before the Hot Springs comp and they sent me Original instead. I e-mailed them and they rushed the shipment to me so I would have it before the comp. Sent a prepaid label to send the other stuff back. Hawgeyes has always been great to work with for me.

I have heard a lot about the yardbird, what spices are in it?

This a great time in the thread to mention that we (the brethren) are blessed to have guys here that are turning out simply Amazing products. Plowboy's Yardbird is simply the tops IMO on chicken, and damn good on everything else. Spicewine Ironworks Heffer Dust is my Brisket rub choice hands down.

And you know what else, technically these two guys are competitors of each other, yet Spicewine sells Plowboys products. That is why this place rocks, truly a BBQ Brotherhood.
