• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Hi all I'm Redfish a 30 somethin' newbie from Bradenton Florida
and fishing and smoking with the bandera are some of my favorite things.
I've browsed the site for 2 days and wow.....what a wealth of information
you fine people have posted. Looking forward too posting often and sharing recipies ect. Also am looking for a good homemade barbecue sause thats not to hot for wife and kid...any ideas?
Thanks again,
Redfish Randy

Steve Raichlin's book "sauces, Rubs, and Marinades" has a sweet and smokey sauce recipe that is fantastic. You won't be dissappointed.

Welcome aboard.

Welcome Redfish.

I thought Cajun by your monicker at first, cuz we got a great Cajun restaurant called RedFish here in the Windy City.

Welcome!!

Howdy Redfish. Paul Kirk has a book out with rubs, marinades, sauces, etc.., including tips and info on
how to develop your own signature recipes.

I've been to Bradenton a couple of times - got a mess of cousins there, though some have moved on.

Nice place.

Welcome Redfish. Can you fish and smoke at the same time?

re- racer_81 smoked manatee

the manatee is very fatty...tastes kind of like dolphin
and the big flat tail makes one hell of a doormat

LMAO

I hear there backs are nice an rough, so its great to use them to sharpen boat propellers.

How's the smoked manatee down there?

Very tasty! We call it the "other, other white-meat" they are especially good after being tenderized in the intercoastal waterway by Donzi propellers. :D

Almost forgot: Welcome! I'm on the other side of the Skyway at Clearwater/Dunedin. Don't forget to rub in the "cold" weather we've been having here in Pinellas and Manatee Counties :D

Hang in here and give us a chance -- I promise we won't redeem ourselves but we do tend to grow on you -- kinda like chiggers!

Actually we could take a Bandera (or other smoker) to the causeway or out on the Skyway Pier(s) and fish and cook at the same time. Hmm - what an idea. Randy: north or south pier?? :D

skyway pier

Sounds good to me lets set something up......
A fishing Bandera blowout..
think of all the other jealous fisherpeople
North or south still costs a buck either way

How true! Let's see if we can't get something setup -- I haven't paid any attention to the fishing reports lately -- anything running now?? I wouldn't mind waiting unitl the mackeral/kings show up :D Catch 'em and cook 'em -- man that hurts!!

My ECB transports real easy!! And it can be used to smoke or grill :D

Welcome Randy!

You farkers are talking about fishin and smokin off a pier. Anyone wanna come over, we'll drag the 'dera out on the lake, cut a hole, do a little ice fishin and smokin? Ain't no way we can let the southern chapter out do the midwest chapter!

I'll be ice fishin in 2 weeks :)

wife's folks live in northern wisconsin...

I caught my limit of ice this week!

Ditto Al,
250,000 people without power state wide. Things are starting to get back to normal here. Only a few to get power back (about 25,000).
I was without for about 12 hours, but there are some that are going on their sixth day. Among them my cousin (he lives about 4 miles from me). I offered my place to him, but he's a stubborn SOB and said he'd wait it out. Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face. OH well.
