• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Hello to you all,
I am new here and wanted to say Waz a crak'n.
I hope you had great weekend and an even better Thanksgiving.
I know I did.
Just to tell you a little about me.

I am an Account Exec at powerTV.
We are an online marketing company that helps automotive companies reach High Octane Enthusiasts through viral video.

I have a very large smoker up for sale... Too big for me. Need something that fits into the garage a little better. I am thinking a Stumps, Diamond Plate or American Barbecue Systems. So far the Stumps is in the lead.

Anyway, I brought my love of BBQ with me from Texas. You know, it is real hard to find good BBQ in So Cal. So I had to do it myself. and I am better for it. Just think some schmuck just got voted best ribs in Riverside County... He boils his ribs... Communist, I tell ya!
So here I am, telling you all about me and I haven't even had a drink yet.

My favorite food is fried buzzard balls and rollin a smoked brisket. A little tough on the lungs but smooth it down with a little Woodbridge and life is good.

I look forward to being part of the Brethren.

Lloyd Hunt

Did someone call me?

Welcome aboard brother! We have some brothers that aren't TOO far from you. I know we have one in Norco and one in Encinitas. We'd be happy to have you at some of our get togethers and contests. Just keep watching the board and you will see stuff listed.

Welcome,

Don't know when you will learn the handshake as I'm new too. If I learn it I'll let you know. But, I have learned a bunch of farking info by just looking around.

Fried....what?!!!

Strangely enough, Lloyd (or maybe not so strangely), teaching us how to make fried buzzard balls may qualify you to skip the handshake altogether!

Of course, they have to be GOOD...

Welcome to the house!

Fried Buzzard Balls!

All in favor of getting a recipe/description and pictures raise your hand!

Welcome to fray!

Thanks guys. I am glad to be here.

The recipe is actually very simple.
First, you got to catch the buzzard. Most stores do not carry them.
Using a very small knife cut a slit right. Pop out that little feller and cut.
Be very careful not to drop it cause you'll never find it.
Next, you got to get a hammer and smash'em. Trust me one is ok but a mouthful is not cool.
Mix together a beer batter and dip'em and fry them.
Do not use a creamy style sauce, hot sauce works best.

Or you can follow this recipe.

Yield: 3 dozen

Buzzards' Nests ingredients

2 Egg whites
1/8 tsp. Cream of tartar
1/2 tsp. Ground cinnamon
3/4 tsp. vanilla extract
dash Salt
2/3 cup Sugar
5 oz. large shredded wheat cereal biscuits, crushed (1/2 10-oz pkg)
12 oz. pkg candy-coated chocolate covered peanuts like M&M's

Cooking Buzzards' balls (nests...)

1. Preheat oven to 275 degrees F. Combine first 5 ingredients in a small mixing bowl.
2. Beat at high speed with an electric mixer until soft peaks form.
3. Gradually add sugar, a tablespoon at a time, beating until stiff peaks form and sugar dissolves.
4. Stir in the crushed cereal.
5. Drop by level tablespoonfuls onto lightly greased baking sheets.
6. Make an indentation in center of each one with the back of a teaspoon.
7. Place 3 peanut candies in each indentation.
8. Bake for 30 minutes until set. Immediately remove to wire racks to cool.
9. Store in an airtight container.

good stuff Vern!

I think that recipe will not only NOT get you the secret handshake but may get you thrown off this forum!!:cool:Welcome bro......

God, I hope I don't get thrown out of another forum. People keep telling me I should not share all of my recipes!

You said FRIED...

We love FRIED...

Now you have to come up with something FRIED. And to redeem yourself it should contain bacon also.
