So... after months of watching videos, browsing sites, reading threads and getting feedback from a number of you brethren I think I have finally settled on by "base" build specs, as well as a list of other options that I would consider depending on the price of each. I think I'm going to try to give Tyler a call this afternoon to talk about getting my order/deposit in so I can at least secure my place in line. I tried looking for his or Paul's email address but can't seem to find it. Does anyone have them?
Here is what I think I'm going with for starters:
· 24x60 straight back cabinet
· Elevated cook chamber - 3rd shelf (maybe 4?)
· Elevated warmer - 4th shelf
· Insulated firebox
· Dual-flush mounted burners
· Propane tank holder(s)
· Removable tongue
· Both dampers
· Stainless front shelf
· Folding firebox shelf
· 5' wide trailer
· 15” tires
· Spare tire and mount
· Griddle
Here is what I'm considering for additional options:
· Probe ports
· Diamond plate doors
· Firebox searing station
· Rack for charcoal pan in warmer
· Hip roof on warmer
· Removable charcoal pan for cook chamber
· Storage “rails” underneath trailer for griddle and extra shelves
· Firebox ash pan
· Utensil drawer
Also, I really like trailer with the expanded metal decking around/behind the dual flush mount burners. It's hard to tell from the photos of it in the options thread, but is there a wood box/basket on the back side of the cook chamber? Also, what do you guys think about building a basket/box underneath the decking on that side of the trailer and perhaps hinging the top decking somehow to allow for additional storage?
One final thing - I'm looking at towing my cooker once or twice a year about 400 miles round trip to our cottage in Upper Michigan. With the weight of the cooker itself, a load of wood, and one or more coolers loaded with meat should I be considering a heavier axle?
