• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

New Offset Review from Jeremy Yoder (Mad Scientist BBQ)

Connor_Macleod

Full Fledged Farker
Just saw this video where Jeremy reviews a new backyard offset called the Texas Smoke King from M&M BBQ Company:

It has some neat looking features.

Yes it does and M&M are great pit builders. The only thing I don't like is the lack of a foldable stack and I'd like to see more reviews. Goldee's from M&M is my dream pit but this could get up there.

I have a hard time watching Jeremy anymore. Every time he puts up new YouTube content it's as though he's forgotten (or hopes we've memory holed) what he's already shared. One month he's promoting his own (now disappeared?) pit; a month before that it's Goldee's; a month earlier it's TMG; and a month before that it's Workhorse, or . . . Fatstack! I wouldn't mind it so much if he would do real comparative reviews like he used to. Today, though, pits he used to be enthuastic about just seem to disappear, not just from his backyard but from his conversation.

Here's the link to buy The Solution. Just saying. And he had nothing to do with Fatstack.

I think anyone out there that does business building pits and has some longevity in that game probably puts out quality. Outside of aesthetics they are all probably pretty damn close in function.

Today, everybody that misses the bullseye thinks there must be something wrong with his ammo and goes to YouTube hunting for someone selling magic bullets.

The link to the The Solution has been up then down then up. Others have noticed this and wondered about it.

Jeremy had nothing to do with Fatstack's demise, but he did enthusiastically promote them--no doubt influencing many to place orders--and as of January 2025 hasn't spoken publicly about it.

he is a content creator. he must keep creating more content to keep the revenue coming.

I am starting to come to this conclusion as well. I think biggest difference is heat retention/movement, and longevity. As long as ur cooking with wood (chips, chunks, splits), have patience, you should be fine. biggest difference comes when u move on from pellet smoker to real wood. I say this as someone who owns a m&m goldees myself. Amazing pit, but I’m sure some of u guys on here could out smoke me on a Weber kettle.

I agree. I mean you can only watch so many videos of the same You-tuber cooking pork ribs. He/she has to move on to something else to maintain interest. I think some of them build up a following with the grill/smoker they were using prior to making youtube videos, then start using other equipment when their viewership begins to lose steam. I feel like some of them have reached the point of "jumping the shark" with their videos. I guess it doesn't matter, as I've pretty much run out of steam watching BBQ related videos anyway - you can only watch the same type of content so many times before it gets old.
