• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Hello all,
I am new to smoking meat and came across the forum while seeking help from google. I am currently building a double barrel smoker.
Based on the brethren map; I am the first member from Egypt and also the middle-east. I guess I also have the first smoker here too since smoking meat at home is not something that is known to anyone here (anyone who sees my new toy thinks I am building a boiler of some sort).
So Hello from Cairo, Egypt
Below is a picture of my project

Welcome to the forum. I am not here as much these days but these are a great bunch of folks to learn from.

I am not sure if it is me or the way you posted your picture I can't see it but it sounds great.

Don't worry about knowing anyone else with a smoker. They will understand when you are done cooking.
Time to start a bbq trend in the middle east.

Welocme to the asylum!

It looks like you didn't use the direct link to your picture. I'm not sure how to get that on Google drive since I don't use it very often. I'll look into it.

For now, I changes the link in your post to be a URL instead of an inserted image.

:welcome:
I imagine that cooking meat with an open flame is not new in your country. That is the humble origins of today's barbecue.

I'd be curious to here about what you plan to cook. And the wood you would be using.

Best of luck.

Great looking smoker! Welcome to the forum.

Welcome, come on in, take your shoes off and sit a spell.

Welcome to the forum hakamo0o, glad to have you join us and hopefully take part in the other forums.

We don't have a lot of rules here other than spam and advertising are not permitted, the rest is just common sense, courtesy, and mutual respect for one another.

You'll find a great group of people here with a willingness to help and guide you, regardless of of how simple or how complicated you think your question may be. You'll also find that there are many ways to achieve great food, there is no single "cookie cutter" method as some have been conditioned to think. You'll just have to try a few different methods and soon you'll master the way that works best for you.

We'll be here to guide you and answer your questions as you begin your journey into smoking and BBQ. Pretty soon you'll go from asking questions to posting pictures of your progress, and we will all share in your experience as true Brethren.

We have many different forums here.... Below are just a few of them.

For discussion on BBQ/Smoking related topics, we have the "Q-Talk" Forum. This is a good starting point for all new Brethren.

For general non BBQ related talk we also have "The Wood Pile" forum.

I hope to see you in the "Q-Talk" forum soon. You'll find help on almost every topic.
If you can't find the topic you need help with, or have questions about a specific topic, just start a new thread in the related forum.

There are many members with years of experience that are willing to answer your questions and share their knowledge to guide you in the right direction. Collectively there is a wealth of experience and knowledge among the membership, including you. Don't be afraid to jump in there and share your knowledge and your experiences as well.

Thank you all for the warm welcome, I am still experimenting with uploading images; so I'l try again.

As for the BBQ question above, we have a lot of BBQ here direct on flames and such but smoking food at home with an indirect heat source is something not that popular I guess.

I have gone through some of the older posts here and I think they helped, I will be making a charcoal basket this week since my smoker is having hard time exceeding 190 F.

Nice work You should also look into a UDS aka Ugly Drum Smoker Those that use them love them
