• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

I stopped to get gas about an hour ago and as I'm standing there filling up the tank I see a grand opening sign for a place called SECONDS BBQ. I drove into the parking lot and there are chairs and tables outside on the sidewalk.

Inside is just a takeout place. I ordered the BB ribs which comes with 2 sides and a piece of cornbread. The price was $11.50 plus tax.

It only took about 5 minutes to get my food. I went back out to the car and opened the box to find 5 gray ribs with some sauce on them. No smoke ring. I ate all 5. No real flavor. Tasted like plain pork with some sauce. The cole slaw tasted like cole slaw. The rice and beans was not bad. It had a little spice to it but if the meat don't got no flavor then it don't matter none.

The place is located on the corner of RT 110 and Washington Ave just North of Sunrise Highway on the West side next to the Valero gas station.

I think I might go to Willie B's to get this taste out of my mouth.

You SLUT! Going to another BBQ place while Willie's back in the kitchen cooking his ass off for you.

Seriously, Smoker?!! I'm not a fighting man but if you keep this up I'm gonna have to knock some sense into you soon.

Well, I just happen to stumble onto the place. I won't be going back. I thought maybe I knew the owner.

I guess if it was really bad you could call it the Amityville Horror BBQ.

I am sure people from that area NEVER get tired of that joke.

And what a lousy name. Seconds bbq. What, is this the bbq not good enough for a good bbq joint?

I stopped by Seconds on Thursday with a friend. It's really surprising to be driving down Rt. 110 and see a new bbq place. For years and years Long Island had NOTHING and now it's like there is an explosion of bbq joints.

I can't comment on the ribs (thanks for the warning though), but the brisket was good. Fatty, but good. The sides were excellent. Very southern. Vinegar based sauce, collared greens, candied yams, etc.

The owners seemed nice enough. They have been open about 6 weeks.

I will probably stop in again if I'm going to the dmv in Amityville or shopping nearby. Not a destination by any stretch, but good enough to give it another shot if I am in the area.

As I won't be going back, ask him what kind of smoker he is using. I believe he also runs the lawn mower store next to it.
