New guy from Michigan

I found this great forum recently and really like the feel. I have been cooking on my Smokin' Tex for a couple years and have my recipes down but have the itch for competition. I bought a Char-Griller SnP and although it does a good job after a few mods I really wanted to build my own. I saw the drum smokers and have to have one. I have a race car parts business and a metal fab shop so I think I can make something pretty nice. I have a couple drums, some metal and some tube I will be posting up some pictures as I go. Any Detroit area guys here? Maybe we can get together and bash!

Spydermike, Are you going to Silver lake this year for the contest? I entered the amature division for fun and some experience. I have never even been to a competition before so it should be interesting.

I will be there!! We were in the amatuer divison last year and we won the whole dang thing!! It is a great contest in a beautiful location.
