So my cousin and I are going to try and build our own offset smoker and I'm wondering where you guys would suggest getting the pipe to use for the main chamber?

See if your local sheet metal fabricator can roll one for you. The local guy here can roll up to 6 foot long, and up to 1/4" thick.

Find a used propane tank, they come in many sizes. Seems like you can find them listed at about $1 per gallon. Much cheaper than having 1/4" Steel rolled.
