• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Anyone got suggestions? I purchased a cheap maverick from home depot that thing is junk! I don't need remote temps, or I don't want to constantly monitor the meat temp. I want something worth the money. The one's I've had in the past were 10-15 dollar one's and they are junk!

Just need something where I can check internal temp of my food when its nearing the end of the cook. I'm just tired of buying junk.

Anything from ThermoWorks....just depends on what you are looking for. I foolishly purchased a Maverick as well....what a pile-o-crap

+1 on Thermoworks. I have the Thermapen but a lot of people here like the thermapop for a lot less $.

To leave in or spot check?

Thermoworks DOT is a great leave in and the thermapen is king for spot checks. Thermoworks products are excellent and you only buy once.

Looking for something for spot checks. I just want something where I can check the temp when I consider the food done. looks like the TermoPop is my kinda thing. I cant afford the expensive thermapen!

I love both but you can't go wrong with the thermopop for the price.

Yes, thermopop is as accurate as a thermapen, just a second or 2 slower

My Maverick works great for monitoring during the cook, and the I use my Thermapen when it gets close to time to pull. The Thermopop is cheaper and fine if that second or two doesn't matter. If you are just cooking for your family, get it. If you have a pit full of chicken that you need to check each piece before you pull, get the Thermapen. Seconds add up.

I bought some of these on sale to give away to my friends and they loved them.

Thanks everyone! I think i'll be purchasing the Thermapop. I'm not much for reading temps but sometimes you just gotta know what your foods at. Especially when I'm cooking for people outside of the family!
