• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Please be patient with me.....I'm not much of a bbq'r; I'm just testing the waters.

I have some birthday money burning a hole in my pocket. I'm wondering if I should invest in smoker tube (https://www.amazon.ca/Napoleon-67011-Stainless-Steel-Smoker/dp/B0036Y9CH4) or charcoal tray (https://www.homedepot.ca/product/napoleon-cast-iron-charcoal-smoker-tray/1001055126).

Or maybe I should save my money? We mainly eat burgers :) I'm not sure if either product would significantly improve the taste of a burger?

Just hang around here long enough and the itch and fever will spread. I am interested in hearing these responses as well. My FIL and I have a propane hog cooker I have thought about adding a charcoal tray, but if someone else has tried a smoke tube and it works even better bonus.
 
If you are looking to add a smoky flavor, you will find that the charcoal tray be a more useful and versatile tool than the smoking tub. You can get plenty of smoke flavor from charcoal, lump, or chunks of wood when using the tray and you won't need to use the propane when using the tray.
 
Want to make better burgers? Get a set of griddle grates and make smash patties :)


I concur wholeheartedly when it comes to burgers. I stopped grilling them a while back after I tried them on a blistering hot griddle. You will never get an outer crust like this(or any crust, for that matter) on a gas or charcoal grill:
