• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Didn't end up getting a Blackstone due to space. The good news is that it fits my Weber Genesis Silver B like a glove.

Broke it in with cheeseburgers and hash browns.

How even is the temp?

I only have one cook under my belt, but so far it looks like it's fairly even. One of the burgers was slightly more rare than the other two. In general though it was consistent. I was shocked at how hot it was around the griddle. The burner knobs on my Weber were almost too hot to handle.

Ya! Good Choice ............

Well. Considering you were the one who recommended it. :becky:

Well. Didn't get to the Cheesesteaks this morning, but I did grilled cheese for lunch with some awesome veggies. Like I said, a Blackstone would have been nice, but I'm limited on space and this guy is doing an excellent job so far.

This ....above quote.....Dont mean to be a party pooper but it is very necessary to have proper space around that griddle to allow excess heat to escape or you are risking some problems with that heat build up ..those Knobs and hoses have rubber and will fail if exposed to prolong/ excessive heat And that is a problem you dont want . Just make sure you leave some clearance towards the rear so some heat can escape maybe just put a couple metal shims and elevate it about 1/2 inch .. Look at all griddles there is a gap so they dont over heat . maybe you just not put it in so deep on the grill....
I Just mention this because after over 20 years in the Fire dept I have seen this happen many times here in Phoenix.. Just my .02 worth.

Good call. I thought about that and I think that's a good idea. I also ran it on high for it's first run (which was hotter than I needed it to be). I ran it on medium the second time and the work area was a reasonable temperature. I'm going to put a little clearance on the back to help with airflow.

I agree 100% with VoodoChild about this setup possibly overheating a weber grill. I had a friend that made a griddle for his weber that had no venting space and he almost burned down his deck and camper. The valves do have rubber seals that can fail with disastrous results when overheated. The one I made for mine has about an inch and a half space on both sides.

Very cool. I don't have room for a black stone either, but I have a 2 burner camp chef weekender propane stove that I keep set up on the patio. I got the Camp Chef griddle that fits it and with 2-20,000 btu burners it will get screaming hot, great for making blackened redfish, searing steaks etc, and the best part is the whole thing is portable so it can go car camping with me.
