• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Check out what I found today at a garge sale. They were asking a ridiculously inflated $3.00, but I was able to skillfully negotiate the price down to $2.00. Not a bad deal! The grate is rusted up something fierce, so I might have to replace it. Can anybody try to date it based on the wooden handle?

yEAH.

I Bought One 3 Weeks Ago But I Had To Pay $5.00 But My Grate Was In Great Shape. Mine Is Dated Well 3 Weeks Ago!!!!!

VQ
I had a wooden handle on mine, circa 1986.

I wouldn't date it, for obvious reasons!
( Besides, I'm married)

I use my SJ all the time as a charcoal side burner for the Weber Performer.

If the year code is the same as those used for WSMs, then the manufacture date was 1986.
My wife said, "You have two grills already; why do you need another one?" She doesn't get it.

Tell her Hon when there is NO more room in the back I will be done

See if there are any letters on the top dome vent. Then check out TVWB for their date codes.

Good deal! I got an 18" Jack Daniels commemorative Weber from my neighbor's trash pile - I reinstalled the legs (no wonder the bottom bracket kept falling out) and bought a new 18" grill grate for about $8.50.

Now if I could just find a Fast Eddie for $50 at a divorce sale I'd be fixed up!!

Ya'll are some lucky farkers. I never find good chit at a yard sale. Always someone elses junk. Great score VQ.
