• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Would it hurt to cook a butt with a piece of foil just laid on top. This would be to keep ash off of the food. I've put a partyq on my mini WSM and do get ash on the food.:cry:.
 
Would probably change the bark and since the ash is coming from underneath wouldn't it still get on the meat?

Edit: have you tried closing down the fan damper?

The ash appears to just settle on the top side of the meat and the grate. Was thinking it was being carried up and falling back down
There is no damper fan damper on my partyq. Only on or off.
I think your correct about changing bark.

I don't see why you need a temp control on a pit that has a history for holding reasonably stable temps??:confused:
