Howdy folks,

I’m looking at 24x48” offsets and I really like, the blue smoke smoker, great references, and Phil was great to speak with, answering all of my questions. Sadly it’s $1,000 to $1,100 to ship it to my location.

I still might go with them but I see that Murillo Metalworks are a lot closer to me, so maybe I could save some money on shipping, however their build quality, customer service, etc are all unknowns to me.

Any of you fine folks have any experience to share? Please of course feel free to pm me!

Thanks!

I'd like to bump this thread since I'm in the market and Murillo seems like the most affordable option in my area for what I want. Seems established in 2020, does anyone have any experience with them? There's not much info available, even on his website. The photos are not hi res.

Never heard of them, but they look good. I would call em and ask fer some more detailed pics. I would also put in some overtime and jump ta that single door 24"x60"

^^^^ this ^^^^ Those smokers look good without being able to see details on the welds and internals. Also, I have a single door 24 x 60 and love it. Also again, I don't have a front shelf on my smoker, and I don't miss it. I just set up a folding table a few feet away from the smoker and use that instead; I additionally use the flat top on my insulated firebox as a table for storing trays when moving food in or out of the smoker.

Okay, since his 24x60 didn't have a stack damper in the picture, I inquired about pricing to add one, Here is what he replied:

Hello, all of our smokers include a fire not air inlet damper, stack damper, & fire box to cook chamber deflector also. Starting price for a 24x60 is $3500. We offer two different set ups. Both come fully loaded with an upper cooking grate, lower wood storage, stainless steel swivel handles, 2 tel tru gauges, 1” ball valve grease drain. Only difference in modes is you can have one large cook chamber door or two smaller cook chamber doors.

I have been eyeballing MM for a couple years. They used to offer a cool looking hotbox-type smoker but I don’t see it on the website anymore.

Keep us posted!

My plan is to buy a new smoker by the beginning of next year. If I end up getting the Murillo, which seems likely, I'll come back here with a biscuit test for you all.

1 pic per Smoker Blows

Let’s see the cook chamber, the cook grates ( pull out or fixed ? ) , the exhaust collector, hole size at collector , hole at fb to cook chamber, any baffles, intakes ?

How do you want temp variation to be in smoker?

If want it consistent that model needs to have some sort of vertical diffuser plat bringing entry to grate level

If it doesnt you will have a hotspot on right hand side. Not big deal but based on how much and what you cook it may be an issue.

I have built and cooked on multiple offsets and I prefer even temps side to side. What you need for this is

Firebox/air entry at grate level
Stack exit at grate level
Longer stack than feldon recommends
Some sort of air control at FB
A damper on stack is not necessary but does allow you to fine tune
