Try this, take Kc Masterpiece and add Chalula hot sauce just to where it's too hot for kids taste (will mellow on food). Real favorite around hear.

I like it alot make sure you heat it up just a little before you use it.

Montgomery Inn is a very famous Cincinnati Restaurant. One of the 25 largest indepandent restaurants in the US.
They are supposedly famous for their ribs. This is their BBQ sauce.

My knock off recipe for it calls for Heintz ketchup, tarragon vinegar, sugar Worcestershire, chili powder, onion and garlic powder, a very simple recipe acutally.

I have never tried the original, but have made the knock-off version and it is ok, a typically sweet, tomato based sauce, not very complex, but ok.

yep... use it all the time. it's pretty sweet tasting

It is what they use to cover their boiled and baked ribs.....................

Yep, Im originally from the Cincy area. You will find Montgomery Inn sauce at all my brothers and sisters houses. But after my last 2 visits home and a family reunion, they are now true believers in Spicewines Blue Collar, Fire Good and Blues Hog products. My homemade also beat out Montomery Inn and thats a good sauce.

If Montgomery Inn was BBQ .......I would not eat BBQ

I'm starting to wonder if it's even worth the trouble (and expense) to make your own sauce anymore. There seems to be so many good ones out there...hell, just doctoring up one of the grocery store offerings usually comes out pretty darn good with a lot less trouble.

I spend a lot of time on sauces, but a doctored up store bought brand is about usually about 90% as good I think. I like to do it, but sometimes it just doesn't worth the exercise.

Is that blaspheme?

Surprised Phil didnt chime in here

I lived in Cicny part time for 3 years.

Sent Phil a bottle of Montgommery inn.

He cursed me, as his kids loved it, and for a summer or so a few years back, he ordered it by the case.

Want a Cincy fix?

Can of Skyline chili, can of kidney beans, heated. Small side of pasta. Heat Montgommery Inn sauce (must be heated).

Side of pasta, put Skyline on it. Hot dog in bun, pour Montgomery Inn sauce over, then ladle Skyline on.

It is a fork and bowl dish.

Montgommery Coney Dog!!! Add cheddar.

Its glutony heaven!!

I don't do Skyline with beans... and I don't care much for Montgomery Inn sauce. I have started sending it with each sauce trade I'm in... sorry folks. :)

Made Cincy Hotdog chili yesterday. My sister brought me two cans of Skyline to the reuinon last month. Seems they have watered it down now. The stuff I made is the real deal, right from my uncle who gave me the reciepe years ago. He was a firehouse cook and I love his chili.

There are a few types of Cincinnati Chili......I like Gold Star because it is meatier. But then I also like my chili better than any in Cincy.

A couple of cheese coneys, a couple of sliders,

Here's one of two, both are similar

2# of LEAN ground beef-raw, do not brown
1 quart plus 1 cup of tomato juice ( or V-8 works well too)
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp ground cumin
1 large whole onion (do not chop)
2 dashes of worchestershire sauce
1/8 tsp of allspice
3 tbsp of Chili powder
1 tsp black pepper
1/2 tbsp of salt
1 tsp of red pepper (or two dried red peppers)
1 and 1/2 tsp white vinegar
5 bay leaves

Combine all the ingredients in a large pot. Cook uncovered for 2 hrs on low. Remove onion, bay leaves and peppers. If the ground beef had any fat, I refrigerate, letting the fat come to the top for easy removal once it gets cold by skimming it off. Heat to serve. Add chopped onions and grated cheese for coneys or top over spaghetti with grated cheese for a classic 3-way. Extra freezes well.. Enjoy, from my Uncle Ed.
