I spent a weekend of some good yardwork, along with some great food. As Rick is aware, a local market (recently named the best gourmet grocery, beating out Harrod's and Dean & Deluca) had their annual Lobstermania. It's in Ohio, but they fly in a mess of very fresh lobsters, along with the lobstermen that caught them, and they offer 1 1/4 pounders for $9.99. I stood in line for about 30 minutes to get my 6 seabugs.

Along with that, we had friends over on Sunday, and I made a pork version of what I call Pit Beef, which I then called Pit Pork!

We made lobster rolls and had whole lobster, along with pit pork sandwiches, with yardwork spread throughout.

The pork loin was simple... I made a rub of 1 cup ancho, 1/4 cup chipotle flakes and 1 tbsp cayenne, then added half cup of kosher salt, and 2 tbsp black pepper, then coated the loin decently but not too heavily. Cooked to about 140 or so, then rested for 30 minutes. Served it with a mango/chipotle sauce.

Want my mailing address for the leftovers? that looks fantastical!

Nick, looks like a great weekend of food!

Tom, I don't make sammies at my house, only sandwiches. :)

The market that did the Lobstermania is talking to me about using some of my photos next year for their posters, etc... I told them my price, and they may offer to pay in lobsters, which is just fine with me!
