• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Making It Better..........?

:pop2:
I like the idea! Interested to see what difference it will make.

I,m watching this with interest as well.I have a stainless smoker I'm thinking of insulating.
is that metal painted, Zinc coated.?
Just looking at the Flux marks.

It's this cabinet I bought off Craigslist last year. Thin Guage. Its made by a guy at his house and sold as a stickburner but I bought it hoping it would replace my UDS. Runs ok on splits but EATS charcoal - 2-3 bags a cook and I have to reload every 4-5 hours. Hoping this will get it closer to UDS consumption. If I can get 8-10 hrs on 20 lbs I'll be Happy.

During a break in the rain I got a 2nd skin cut and tacked on. I'm doing the back and 2 sides and top. I had welded a piece of scrap to the cook door previously so I'm not gonna mess with the door. Not even taking it off so sides pieces don't cover entire side. It'll be a goofy looking smoker but I don't care - long as it performs well.

I'm thinking of names for her. "RoShonda" is in the lead........

I just ordered 1 piece of mineral wool from mcMaster Carr- supposed to be here Thursday. Its raining again so can't work on it today. Hoping to knock it out by End of week and do a cook this Weekend........

Well, the insulation should definitely help!! Are you going to seal up between the spot welds with silicon or anything?

I'm gonna stitch weld or add tac welds as best i can then put Rutlands Stove cement over it. It's what i did on TBoneII.

have you tried turning your MIG Welder down? also laying the whole smoker down and just welding on top may help with getting a continuous Bead that is sealed tightly..
