• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Madrone wood?

Very heavy and dense wood. I suspect it is going to be a strong smelling wood unless it cures a long time.
We have a place in West Tx and I have never heard the locals talk about using it. The use mesquite or maple.

I used it for firewood when I lived in Steilacoom. It burns extremely hot. I don't know about using it for smoking. The BBQ Bible says you can use it, but I have no experience.

Anyone ever use Madrona wood for smoking?

I've used it in my 007/UDS a few times since it grows locally. Nothing bad to say about it per se, except that it doesn't give off as sweet a smoke aroma as oak. So, I use oak, which is plentiful here.
