• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Made my first chichen on this 'contraption'

I'll post more pictures later but we are off to a good start.:eusa_clap

She needs alot of work like cutting that stainless grid down ect but it will have to wait till Thursday. I just couldn't wait to see if it was worth the effort of hitting completion with Christmas so close.

Is that a UCCS (Ugly Coffee Can Smoker) or something else entirely?

LMAO! I couldn't tell you as I have only been a member for a few days and don't know all the names. I decided to make up something on my own that would fit in my limited yard space. Sure is ugly though.lol

Here is the lid and a internal grate brfore the first burn..

Food looks great!
Is that some type of pressure cylinder that was cut down?
Keep up the good work.

Yup that s the one. I cut her using the plasma and pierced several holes in the bottom and side s just below the weld. Before I put her to the test today( after reading several threads here) I decided there were too many holes so I used stainless bolts to plug several them.
All a part of the fine tune.lol

Well guys it's midnight and the wife waited up for a taste. I handed her a slice and got the famous approval nod and grin. Fallowed by a demand to place the other breast on a crusty roll so she could pack it for work in the morning.

This may work after all.

It may look weird, but if it works.....about 20 of us will make one ourselves.

I have a ball valve installed on the top just below that T fitting. The T is only there so I could lift the lid untill I make proper handels.

Gotta love brethren ingenuity!

Desperate times call for.. well, we all know the rest.lol

I need to do a few final cuts on a stainless plate that will sit over the coals ect in an effort to keep the heat even.

Thanks, just don't tell my wife I was working on this baby inside the house. It was too stinkin cold to even consider going outside, drinking a beer and thinking about what to do next.

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions to throw out?

I think a door for fuel access is already on the list.

Pretty slick there brother. How tall is the cylinder? And how far from the fire to the cooking grate? Looks like a winner from across the pond!

Great job! I'm sure Don Marco will want one in Germany!

I christen it "The BUD".

Baby Ugly Drum.

You might be onto to something there. A compact smoker for people with limited space. It looks like it did a number on that yard bird. Looks great. I like the T doubles as a vent and a handle. I love seeing what a persons imagination and ingenuity can create. Well done, Brother!

THE BUD!! I like it. :)

The way she cooked this trip the grate sits as shown in the photo at 17.5 from the floor so minus say three inches or so from the fire. The total size of the cylinder is 26''.

If I were to cut a new one I would allow for less room in the lid thus moving the meat further from the fire. I'll install a section of stainless above the fire to try and defuse the heat and should also make a handy place to place a drip/water pan.

Burning the paint, pitty I couldn't keep the Lodon bit.lol

Didn't want to burn it out at home so she went on a camping trip with us. Made for a great campfire that evening.

Did a bit of cooking on it after a good clean that day...

( Look at what the other 'happy campers' brought to cook on in the background!! Needless to say it didn't get any use from me.) I can't remember if the roung grill from the red on3 fit the BUD or not.
