Well I spent all day Sunday smoking about 70# of pacific yellowtail and salmon on my 2 WSMs. Between the brine and the brown sugar and despite that I used sand in the pan, covered well with foil, the outer circumference of both cookers saw a lot of mess, especially around the bottom charcoal bowl. It's caked up badly, had to pry the farking charcoal grate from one. Any suggestions for cleaning this up? I don't want to scrape the porcelain, power wash will be messy. Maybe a another hot fire?

Welcome back, Shane

Do the hot fire burn out.

I loaded mine up with 3' sticks of Ash and Oak I had from pruning and a storm.

cleaned the chit out of it and burned off all the grease, even under the coal pan.

When I get a lot of build up I use a "5 in 1" paint scraper tool, and very carefully scrape down the inside of the unit. Never had an issue damaging the porcelain.

Good tip there Sparky.

Put on your rubber suit and go to the car wash.
The damn thing is allready messy so you should get messy too

If i were you I'd take the easy way out. Pack them up and ship them to me. You shouldn't have to deal with all of that mess. It's below you. I'll take care of them for you.

Good care of them...

:-D

I like to heat mine up throw on some long welding gloves and go at it with one of my older grill brushes which I keep handy for this very purpose.

And then he should just buy new ones, right?

If you have children then put on their best sunday dress and give them some brushes and tell them to go to town on that bad boy.

Two words...
