• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Here is Margarita machine I made from following previous post. Works great. Shown here in cleaning cycle. Special thanks to Wayne (Mokan) for sending me the info! Click on picture.

That's great. Had seen the plans, and always wondered how it would work. Do you have a video of it making drinks?

The one at Poobah's house worked great! At least I think it did. My memory is a little fuzzy...

I really need to make one of those also. they are really cool!!

Will send PM to Wayne since he sent me the plans. Will share if OK with him. My daughter begged all day for Slushes for her and friends. Her room is now spotless through the barter system. Will have video tomorrow, hope Smart and Final has something for the grill also.:icon_clown

It worked too well:oops:

hint..

take the 90 degree elbow off the inside, replace it witha 45 degree and turn it to about the 4 oclock position so it hits the wall when it circulates. When u turn it on it will create a vortex that will help the stuff mix better and also get the ice down into the drain..

and another hint.. DONT overload with ice.. and make sure all the ice is smallenuf to fit in the drain.. if you dump a bag with a chink in it, it blocks the hole and you have a freeze up, which is a pain in the ass.

attached are the plans I bought on ebay.. theyre slightly different from waynes.. i think the pics of my rig are in our photo gallery.. i'll have to dig them up.

i used a cheapo kitchen cabinet for the base.. 20$ at home depot.. a 3/4 horse disposer and a 5 gallon igloo cooler... recommend using a 2 or 3 gallon one though.... filling the 5 up withthe right abount of ice and margarita mix is rough... the first 36 ounces goes to the the machine.. then in order to get the margaritas flowing you need anouther gallon or 2 at least.. good for big parties, but for smaller ones.. id recommend a smaller cooler(2-3 gal) I think it would work better.

I agree with Phil on the ice and the 45 degree elbow. Also, if we don't have good electrical service (at least 20 amps) the unit seems to trip the breaker on the bottom of the dispoal. This is a pain because you have to wait until the unit cools and then reset the breaker. I will probably cut a whole in the back for ventilation and to reset the breaker without having to tilt the whole thing.

The other thing is make sure you clean everything VERY well between uses, if not you will get mold (nasty!!) or rust or something in the disposal. I recommend vinegar or venegar and baking soda to really clean it well. Even then we always run a little water and ice through right before we use it.

If anyone wants my plans just send me a PM with your email address.

Youse guys are all nuts and/or wussies.

Just put a bypass valve for margaritas on your existing garbage disposal. Then, when you're not making masrgarita's, switch it back to the normal position and down the drain into the sewer.

If you're worried about using the same garbage disposal for garbage and margarita's , just flush it well with H2O and sterelize it with a shot or 2 of hiogh grade ethanol.

Yeah, we discovered this after about a year-and-a half of use (and some nice BROWN margaritas in Herrmann, MO)! My wife won't drink our margaritas anymore!!

I would also suggest putting some vegetable oil (2 TBSP) in the bottom between uses to keep the rust down.

????

i just let it run for a few minutes filled with first hot water and dish soap, then clear water and a cup of bleach... clear water again and let it air dry.

havent seen any nasties in there yet. The disposal is all stainless steel.. (looks it anyway... )...
