Looking for a thermometer for my pit.

Hey bros, I'm looking for a thermomter for my pit that has a probe that is around 8" long and can be angled down inside the pit. For some reason the guy that built the pit put the bung for the thermometer at the very top of the barrel facing toward the back of the pit. So the probe is at the top no where close to the grate level and it doesn't work anyway. I was looking into a Tru Tel, but the probe doesn't adjust, only the head of the guage swivels. Is there a themometer out there that will fit my needs? If not I guess I'll have to weld a new bung into the pit near grate level. Thanks.

I did a Tel-Tru mount on my WSM...didn't require a weld. This may give you some ideas. http://s183.photobucket.com/albums/x206/johnrhana/?action=view&current=73965a7d.pbw

The only reason I used the fitting is because the sheet metal is very thin on the WSM...otherwise you can just drill and tap it for a 1/2" NPT.

i drilled a hole in my drum right below the grate and put in a T-nut. my maverick probe sits perfectly in it and its right where i want it to be

I'm actually looking for a regular dial type thermometer like a Tru Tel.

It looks like I may just put in another bung to screw a Tru Tel into where it will work.

It wouldn't work for my application because I needed a thermometer with an adjustable stem. I ended up ordering a tru tel and it should be here Friday. I will have to drill a new hole to mount it.
