looking for a new old country smoker

Well my old country finally decided the kick the bucket after 5 years, I had the smaller one with the offset fire box, and am thinking about upgrading to something bigger. does anyone have any quarrels with the bigger models?

Go with the SmokeHouse.!! $699 24'"x 24" square. 3 grates. only issues are the fire grate needs more slots or cnter cut out and expanded metal put in for ash to fall and tail pipe drain needs to remain open or grease pools up and burns- hang a catch can on it. you could do 12-16 butts. :heh:

i was looking to upgrade to a higher capacity of cooking, at the moment i could only cook 4 boston butts on the wrangler, is what i think i had

Academy Unit is 14 guage but it's Stout becuase of its design. Had I not been gifted the 3/16" prototype I WOULD buy an Academy unit.

Wrangler is 11 gauge with 3/16 doors, Pecos is 14 gauge with 11 gauge doors, Over n Under is 14 gauge. Bludawg was gifted a 14 gauge O/U and he LOVES It.!

Yes you were very blessed. I do like it, but what was your maxed out cooking capacity? also can you fit hole racks of st. louis cuts on each grate. how about fire box size, do I need to get smaller splits?

mine is 20 W x 24 D - store unit is 24 x 24. PLENTY of space for St Louis Cuts and regular splits.

The Owner of Old Country Googles his Products and my threads on Old Country Smokers kept coming up so he invited me down for QnA on his Smokers and my reward was the Smokehouse. Bludawg went with me so Alejandro was gonna give him a Cantina grill but I told him he'd sell more Over n Unders if he gave Bludawg one- so we pulled up Bludawgs threads to show him and he said OK. :becky:

Not my thing but a charcoal burn instead of splits should give you the right temps.
