A Memphis Pro Pellet Grill from Hearthland Products

I have been looking for a pellet grill for both home and competition use. After reading the reviews on pelletheads.com, and talking to the reviewer on the phone about a couple of the grills, I contacted Bob at Hearthland to see about a Chicago area dealer for the Memphis Pro. Even though the Memphis Pro owners I have talked to love their grills I want to touch and feel one for myself. Bob told me that he was hiring a manufacturer's rep in this area and that rep's first job would be to sign up dealers. Once the rep was on board he called me to let me know that he would be visiting a dealer about 10 miles from my home and would have a grill with him for me to look at. We set up a time to meet this afternoon. When I got to the dealer location the rep and I went to his truck to look at the grill. After the reviews, and talking to Memphis Pro owners I expected to be impressed by the grill, but in person it exceeded my expectations! This thing is built like a tank! Just the size of the rods used to make the grates is impressive

Well, I was in grill lust! I was probably 90% sure that I was going to buy a Memphis Pro and had told Bob this. Apparently he had enough confidence in his product that he sent the rep home from his training at the factory with two grills, his demo unit and one for me!

So, I brought it home

There is a second side shelf, but I didn't put it on yet. I want to see how the grill fits into my competition trailer. I may leave the shelf off to save room.

I did the initial burn in at 450 degrees based on the manufacturer's instructions and then ran to the store for something to cook. It was already 6:00pm so i didn't want anything that would take too long so I chose a couple of burgers. I cranked the grill up to 600 and it went from 80 degrees to 600 in about 14 minutes. I put the burgers on and decided to see how hot it would go. The controller runs up to 650 and it only took a minute or so for it to climb the last 50 degrees.

The burgers were on for 8 minutes a side (they were 1" thick) and looked great! I put on a thick slice of sharp cheddar at the end. The burger was very moist and had a great flavor.

So far I am a happy griller

Tomorrow I am going to cook my competition chicken recipe to see how the Memphis Pro does.

I took a bunch of pictures of the grill, inside and out. If you want to see all of them please use this link...

I hate you RonL.
Not really, great looking grill..........jealous mod here!
Awaiting your chicken photos and your opinion of your new grill ya lucky fella.

That's real purty! almost a shame to get it dirty by cooking in it....almost! Happy cooking.

Just curious, how much do they cost? That is a nice looking grill, I love the temp control on them.

Can I come over and use it while I'm in Chicago next month? I'll bring my own Rib-eye and everything.
