• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Hi,

Does anyone know of a place on the island where I can rent a cool smoker? I was thinking about getting one for my nieces High School graduation party but I have no idea where to even search for such rentals.

Thanks,

Eric

You are more than welcome to borrow one of mine if you wish, most likely the good ol NB Silver Smoker, tried and true.
(not big enough for a pig, though.)

Why not purchase one. I am sure you could find one for $129 if you look hard enough. Why not participate? This is a Que related forum you are a member of.

Thanks for the replies. I do have a smoker, which I use too infrequently. I was looking for a suggestion on a place that might rent a larger one that I could use to cook for a larger amount of people.

On the smoker I have I could barely do a couple of racks of ribs at once.

Maybe I could convince Will to loan me his Southern Pride. I'll throw it in my backseat and hook it up in the kitchen. : )

Camelot Rentals, 228 Carrol Ave, Ronkonkoma (631.737.836) had approached Mike Falco (Sir Saucealot) and myself about letting them hire out our pits. I don't know if they ever found any smokers to rent out, but you might try them.

I think that when I was last in Brandon Ress' shop, there was a sign there that mentioned rentals. The Hot Sauce Shop has since closed, but you might try Brandon anyway - 516.315.8362.

Alternative Heat, in Amityville, also rents Traegers, I believe (631.608.8552).

Have you chosen a date for the party? Maybe someone isn't using theirs that day?

Brian, you are the man! Thanks a great deal. I think that they are looking at the 30th of this month.

I'll call the places you noted tomorrow and I'll post the results. I appreciate the help!

According to my friends, I are the walking warehouse of generally esoteric and usually useless information - and that's according to my friends! In any case, I'm glad to help and I wish you luck.

On the 30th, my smoker and I should be happily smoking away in Lake Placid, so I'm afraid I can't offer to help you out with a loan of a smoker. I'm fairly sure mine wouldn't be likely to be described as "cool" by anyone, anyway.

In my book, the 'cool-ocity' of a smoker is how good the food turns out after my mediocre prepping and how much can be cooked on it.

Thanks again for the tips and have a great time in Lake Placid.

Eric
