• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

I sand blasted her on Mon. night, broyght her home, washed her, and painted her. Let the paint dry for another day. Tonight I fird her up @ about 3PM. Using about 25 bricks of K, and the Minion Method, I got her up to 380 with baffles wide open. she stayed there until about 6. Choked her down a bit to 225 now. Will see how long before I need to add fuel to her. If she stays good for another hour, sending the wife to the store for some fatty fixins!
There are however, some things I learned from this build.

1. Next time I decide to build anther pit, I will have a MIG welder.
2. Using veggie oil for seasoning shows where all your bad welds are.
3. Whomever came up with reverse flow is a farkin genius. ( Lola's numbers were less than 10 deg. apart over 3 ft.)
4. Next time, pick afarkin tank that isn't so rusty on the inside. Farkin took me forever to sandblast her.

Thanks again for your advice. Past, present, and future. Couldn't have done it w/o you Farkers!

My lid doesn't seal as well as I'd hoped. Any solutions? Someone mentioned fiberglass rope once. Know where I should start looking for some?

NO Pics? I do not believe anything without pics:biggrin:

Okay, Big Brother Smoke. I finally went to your web site. Very nice. Since we are talking pictures. Can you show us a pic of your rig? I did not see it on your site.:-P

If it is a secret you can PM it to me.:-D

Wood stove store should have it. Maybe even the big box hardware stores. Scott

Smoking gnome like barry manilow....pass it on!

I used an old sheet of Mr Gasket material to seal my firebox to the vertical chamber.

How big are your cracks? (Glad this isnt Woodpile)

TXSchutte, Can you point me in the right direction to see a pic of a reverse flow unit. Or possibly yours?

Thanks,
brian

I have one spot where the weld got too hot and warped the steel a bit, 1/4 inch. Rest of lid has 1/8 in. or less.

Congrats Bro!...what are you plannin' for Lola's "Virgin" smoke?
