I am doing a cook for the company Saturday morning, I am going to do loin ribs and pork loin.

I can figure out the pork loin ok, but how many loin ribs or #s per person? Would be ok to figure 1 rack to 3 people?

I'd say that is a pretty good guess. My racks are 1.75 up. The average peson can just make it through a half rack. Of course there are those who can eat a whole one no problem. But my guess would be between 3 and 6 ribs each.

Agreed, with sides and loin to go with, 3 servings per rack should be fine.

I normally plan on 1/2 rack per person for loin ribs. Better safe than sorry, and there's usually leftovers for the cook!

I am cooking for 75 so I am going with 36 racks of loin ribs and about 40lbs of pork loin. I am going to cook enough for 100.

This will be by far my biggest cook yet.

Good luck Walter. That is just about what i would do. Better safe than sorry.

I cook loin backs or baby backs a lot. If you are going to have men and women eating, you can figure 3 people/rack. If it is just the guys, I usually figure 2 people/rack. Sams's baby backs come 3 racks/package. They are good and are reasonably priced.

Ag76, thanks, I would go with 2/rack if I was only doing ribs, but since I am doing pork loin, I figure I can cut back a bit.

BTW, Walter was my dad, the name is a tribute to him for getting me started bbqing.

I have 4 older brothers. I dont know how all of us managed to avoid being Walter Howard Henderson, III. Just lucky I guess! :)

sorry about the name mix-up. I remember your post where you talked about honoring your Dad by using his name in your barbecue venture.

Good luck with the cook.

Was it tough to come up with a nickname or short version of Hermes?
