• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Lettuce causes more emissions than bacon--Tell that to the Vegan Butcher Shop

I feel bad for vegans.....so misguided in so many ways. Vegan is not healthier, more environmentally responsible or morally superior to eating meat as an omnivore should! Poor malnourished people have been hoodwinked into giving up their rightful place in the food chain.

Well I'm guessing we all know how to celebrate this. Was gonna post a pic of a slab I smoked this weekend, but farkin photobucket is down!

I'll help you in the meantime with my recent bacon smoke Greg! :biggrin1:

I just set some homemade peameal bacon in the fridge to thaw. Count me in for the celebration! :becky:

The sliced stuff is somewhere out in space in little 1's and 0's...

I may be in the minority here, but I like bacon.

Buried deep in the article are a few people pointing out how ridiculous the study was. Lettuce is one of the highest cost vegetables to produce and transport in terms of water and energy. Other vegetables are far more environmentally "friendly" than either lettuce or bacon.

Huge amounts of energy is spent on transportation. If it is about being environmentally friendly then eat local and support your local farmers....that stands for the meat you buy AND the rabbit food....errr....I mean vegetables.

I support local farms that tend to operate the manner that Joel Salatin describes here http://www.polyfacefarms.com/principles/

Monocropping and transportation are much of the real issues if we are speaking strictly about environmental concerns.
