• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Let's trade some wood....

I've got a hook up for some Pacific Northwest Alder...great for salmon and meats. I'm looking for anything exotic...guava...whatever. :-P

Awesome concept BobBrisket. Thing is, I don't have any wood to trade. But, in need of some so I don't have to keep buying bags...
Get out and talk to people. There is tons of free wood every where but you need to find it. From our local burn pile I have scored: maple, oak, birch, and pear.

I have 7 tons of Grape Stumps

Join CBBQA and you get a ton

I don't think the Post Office makes boxes that size. Not only that but the shipping would be murder. I can hear my wife now, "Honey, there's a caravan of USPS vans outside and they say they have grape stumps for you."
Grape vine makes great smoke. I have a 10 gallon bucket almost half full of vines. DO you burn those stumps whole in a stick burner? How do pieces that thick burn? Is it a hard, dense wood?

I hang out on another forum that is for tree workers (I'm not one, but anyway....). They are always talking about the wood that they have to haul away and dump. It'd be green wood mostly, but if you called around, I bet you could find a local tree service that would let you come and pull some of their scrap.

Get home tonight, and there's a USPS box on my chair.
Anyone want to guess what was in it?

PECAN!! BABY!! PECAN!!!

Thanks to Puppyboy. You are da MAN!

In the next couple of days I'll get a box of hickory out to ya.
Thank you Puppyboy!

The door bell rang and when I got there I found two packages left by the friendly neighborhood postal carrier.

One was from the Kingpin and the other from michiana mark.

Thanks guys, you should be getting yours any day now.

Yup got mine Sat. about the same time. Wife rolling eyes mod! Thanks Puppyboy.

Sweet!!!! Just talked to the wife and she said a package was delivered today. Oh yeah, it has to be some hickory from Harbormaster. Gonna use it tonight while grilling some pork steaks. Thanks a lot.

OK Puppyboy, I gotta know, how'd the pork stekas turn out? Hopefully you found the wood to be of satisfactory quality.

Ended up getting called into work so I was unable to grill. Will let you know when I do though. Thanks again.

I'm still looking for one of you Dudes in the citrus growing states to come up with some lemon, lime, orange, tangerine, or whatever kind of citrus and offer me a trade. I got plenty of pecan!!!

Let me know!!

Lotsa citrus here, I just called up one of my landscape customers and told to save me all the citrus/pistachio/pecan/mesquite that he trims up. I will soon have a large pile.

When I get citrus I'll ping you back here.
