• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Okay, let's keep this outta the Woodpile!!

I've made a couple of trades like this with some folks from another board and it was pretty fun and a cheap way to try some wood that might not be common in your area.
I use one of the standard one rate boxes from the USPS which runs about $9. I'll cram that box with my wood..............sounds dirty don't it? Then you send me a box crammed with your wood. How's that?

Here's a list of my wood........
Plum.....just scored it last night. Ranges from 1/2" to 1.5" diameter pieces.
Also have pecan.........plenty. Bigger diameter stuff too up to about 3".
Also have a little bit of Silver Maple. Same diameter as the plum.
I can even send a mix if you want.
What I'm looking for....
apple, cherry, or an exotic, even citrus chunks. It can be a mix too. I'm really looking for a good box full of the cherry though.
I prefer chunks to chips, as I can get chips, but don't really like using them.

Send a PM if you are interested. Maybe we can start a wood swap thread!!

i'm looking for some Texas Mesquite, i got cherry up the arse.........

Okay, Big Brother Smoke and me are trading wood!!

Looks like I got the cherry covered..................I remember saying that to an old girlfriend of mine.

Anyway, I'm willing to make one or two more trades for one of the others in my wish list.

I gurantee you will be pleased with my wood!!:-D

Here we go...............I see the woodpile in the distance!!:-P

We may be able to work something out, I have a hard time getting cherry. I need to see how much mesquite I have, I'll bet 10# or so. It is all in 1" thick rounds, saw cut and has been stored in my warehouse. As you can see, it does still have the bark.

It never occurred to me that this would be feasible. What does a 9 dollar shipping box look like, and can you really stuff your wood in it?

I have plenty of pecan, santa maria red oak, and mesquite if it makes sense to actually do this.

ON EDIT:
Out of curiosity, is the flat rate shipping box you described the 8.5x11x5.5 one?

Looks a little small but prolly worth it.

11" X 8.5" X 5.5"

I can send you a few cherry splits if you want to cut them to chunks.

ever since leaving texas i've been missing pecan-even the shells are great. i have sugar maple, beech, & hickory all over the place(about 60 acres worth).pm me & maybe we can get something worked out.

I would like to get some Pecan and West Coast Alder.Cherry is available and maybe some hickory.

Okay folks, here is what I am offering. The box and demensions posted are the ones. I will send my wood off first, so you all can see that I am sticking to my word. I have a second trade in the works with ZBQ for a cherry/sugar maple mix. I'm just waiting for confirmation. I have included a pic of what I and offering. Yes, it's not a GIGANTIC box, but for those $9 you can get about 7-10 lbs of wood in it depending of how well you stuff if and the density of the wood.
By the way, Third Eye, that is some beautiful farking mesquite. Better than what I have seen here, and it grows in my area like weeds.
Blues n Cues, if you would like to make a trade for som eof that beech, PM me. I've never used it and would like too.
Brothers and Sisters, I can make one more trade. At least for a while. Chit, money is tight with a 2 year old and a 3 week old so the next trade offer is accepted. Blues...............I like to try some BEECH. Let me know if you are interested.
Hopefully, this thread keeps going and trades keeping getting made.
Rock on Brothers and Sisters!

I take pieces like this and cut them in half. I leave as little dead space as possible. I will cram the box will all the wood it will take!!!!! And the box will like it.

Pic to come....

I have some old Jim Beam slats from barrels. They are made of oak. I would like to get some mesquite or pecan.

Guys I would love to do this but the price of postage would be insane unless i only did something half the weight. It would be easier for me to just but it off you guys as it's very seasonal here and very litlle gets cut down locally.
perhaps later down the line we could work something out.

I can't imagine the look on my wifes face when I open box of wood. lol

As I understood it ther eis a package from UPS that cost 10 bucks to ship, regardless of weight. So pack it in there thick and should get a couple fo smokes worth for ten bucks!

Also, I wonder if this would work better by setting up different I want threads asking for specific woods. ie, I want cherry, I want apple, I want mesquite, that way senders could target the audience without searching through threads. Scott
