• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

How do you guys use a mav temp gauge or any temp gauge for that matter on a Lang or some form of offset that has no place to put the wire thru? If I just close it in my lid it would probably cut in half as the lid closes very tight. Thanks

On our lang it just goes through the door. There's a big enough gap that it fits without a problem.

Drill about a 1/2 inch hole on each side of the door maybe 2 inches from the door and just a little above the bottom grate.I see you have a Lang 84,so you may want to drill more holes just above the top shelf level also.Be sure to dress the drill holes inside and out to clean up any sharp edges or burrs so as not to cut the prob wires. You can also get some high temp silicon plugs to fell the hole also.

We run through the door all the time on the Lang 60D my team mate owns.

Closing the door carefully, not letting it slam on the probe cords is the key.

I drilled and tapped a hole just left of the door just above grate height.
When not in use I run a stainless bolt into the hole.

Stop by your local fab shop, and have them drill and tap a couple of holes for you. Then you can buy a couple of bolts to plug the holes when not in use.

I would be afraid of tapping the hole. The threads may cut the prob wire. Just my opinion.

Just run it through the door on my Lang. But I am gentle when closing the doors.
So far I have had no cable problems.

I put this port on another smoker like Shirley smokers do for under $10 .

my comp teammate and I use his Lang 84. we use a Maverick, no issues with the wires under the doors.

I have the cable connectors on my smoker like in post #11. You can get then in the electrical dept. at Lowe's for a couple of bucks. They work great.

Try 'em Bludawg.
