• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

OK, let's try this again.....

Smokey Bones just opened in Lakeland today and I drug the wife and baby there for the 4pm opening. We were probably the 5th group through the door, they even opened early(3:40) becuase of there were about 20 people standing outside the door looking in. My wife really likes their BBQ chicken, which is a rarity for her, she usually only does BBQ to keep me quiet. My son, who's 15 months, loves all of it. I ate so much I was stuffed and didn't feel good the rest of the day. It was a great feeling, can't wait to go back again. Maybe now the wife will change her tune a little about BBQ.

They opened in Clearwater a few months ago - we just tried them last night - had a combo #1 and #2 and shared all the meats.

It was all pretty good - we had spare ribs and they would have passed muster at competition!

Their chicken is right tasty - I love the rub.

Nice to find a commercial place that upholds some standard of que.

We learned something last night

When two moderators move a post to 2 different places at the same time, and one leaves a shadow topic, the entire thread goes poof.

Smokey Bones is a great place to take in a sports event with all those TV's and and that channel clicker dealie at each table. Pulled pork is pretty good too.

I agree their rub they use on their brisket is insanely good! Every time I go I tend to get that Pulled Pork, Brisket, and Sausage combo platter! Good Stuff!!!

Thanks from me too. I was one of the culprits and couldn't remember who posted.

Hmm…..
Had a Smokey Bones open here a few months back.
I was a little reticent about trying it, but with these kinds of revues, I might just give it a shot.
One never knows!!!!!

Going to have to give them a try. We have one about 35 minutes away down in Mishawaka, IN. What do you like better, Smokey Bones or Famous Dave's?

Smokey Bones is part of the Darden group - Olive Garden, Red Lobster, etc. They've got the horsepower and apparently the talent to make this work. I know they have had a team that competed under the Smokey Bones name.

I favor Smokey Bones over Famous Dave's any day! For some odd reason Famous Dave's food gives me the impression that their food was marinated in liquid smoke and is NOT cooked on-site. On the other hand Smokey Bones gives you the impression someone just pulled your rack, sausage, chicken, or brisket right out the smoker and to your plate. Well, not really but damn near close!
