• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

I remember when Klose was the pit to get. Many years ago. I found one at a very good price it seems. They still a good pit? 20x36

I don't have one, bit is my understanding that they are excellent, well-made pits.

Ok, found one for sale for $750 plus a viper fan and comtroller..... That a pretty good deal. Waiting for email back. I sent a couple questions about the pit.

An awesome pit doesn't stop being awesome just because there's more options. That's a fantastic price on that. I'm jelly.

David Klose did not his reputation from building sub par smokers. He may not be the flavor of the day on this site but he has always built great cookers.

I had one similar one and I loved it and would rate it in my top 5 pits I have ever owned .

I ended up buying a used Jambo from a brethren....I love it. But I STILL think the KLOSE “Grill Chef” deluxe smoker/grill is the ultimate. If I could find a used one at a good price I would be sorely tempted.......

I had to web search that...Pretty damn nice cooker!
Came across this on the first page if anybody was interested...I don't enough about Klose to know if this is a good deal or not.

Dave actually called me back to “talk” about smokers when I was looking......incredible and knowledgable fellow. He told me that was the smoker at his house and was the best model he ever made at holding temps. It is very heavy, but I loved the fact it has a elevator coal rack for grilling and also do a small pig. Another fellow once said he had a removable plate made for it that made his into a reverse flow model WHEN he wanted, so lots of options. Anyway, just wanted to say at one time this was Dave Klose go to personal smoker.

I have a Klose BYC and absolutely love it. My only regret is that I don't have time to run a stickburner more often, 'cause I love cooking on that thing. There are lots of quality pits out there and Klose is regarded as one of the best for good reason. If you find a good deal on a used one, run - don't walk! Snag it as soon as you can before someone else does.

I'm pretty sure he only lost his cult following from his pretty high pricing. Still a dang good pit. I'd jump on one if I could find it reasonably priced.

It's on CL in Waterloo Ia. I sent an email but haven't heard back..... I have a friend that would want it. Oh, well, must be sold already

I loved my BYC, built like a tank and fun to use. Replaced it with a Yoder to free up some time.

I've had my Grill Chef for maybe seven years and love it. Exact one like the Craig's List add, except I got the 1/2" thick firebox option. The $2250 is a bargain for anyone in SoCal, so somebody got lucky. Mine had a 1200 pound shipping weight, Houston to San Diego area. Just got 2 packages of SRF Wagyu Dino bones and can't wait to fire it back up. Took me a long time to realize it, but I only burn seasoned oak logs for heat. A retired co-worker got one, but added a vertical smoke chamber on the opposing end.

Do you ever hit Red Tracton's? I loved that place.
