• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

I watched BBQ unwrapped last night on Food TV. When they got around to discussing BBQ Pits they interviewed Dave Klose. Man, he will make anything into a smoker. He showed a phone booth he made into a smoker. He called it, "Welders gone wild". He talked about pit tuning and how he tries to shoot for +/-3* variance throughout his pits. He also bragged about a pit he shot up with a .44 magnum and all he got was ricochet's. He seems like someone I definetely would love to have a beer with.

He'll talk your head off. If it's around lunch, he'll take you to Burn's, and talk your head off over good q. If you start asking questions (pits or fishing), might look for a seat.
And, he treated my wife the same as he did me. That says alot.

Ive known Dave for a few years now.. he invited my son(and me too) to his house last summer and we spent 3 days fishin, cooking and talking Q. I was more relaxed and at home in those 3 days than a week on a regular vacation. Hes one of THE most down to earth men you will ever meet and will give you the shirt off his back... Anyone ever gets a chance to meet that gentlemen, take the opportunity. He exemplifies what BBQis all about.. sharing, friends and good times.

Heres Dave and James fishin down at Galveston.

a toast when i arrived..

All I can say is wow! I am supposed to see my sister later this year, as she lives just north of Houston, and I have already talked with my brother-in-law about trying to get down to the Klose shop. I have only seen a handful of his rigs, but they are pretty damn nice. One of these days...

You know yu are a Brethren when you plan your vacation around a visit to a BBQ pit factory.

Why do you think I picked mine up. Wife didn't mind at all. My boy, 1 at the time, got to play with a dog in Dave's office while I drooled over all the pits.

Dave is a great guy! Don't plan on being real impresssed by his shop though! I'll tell anyone who asks , that he builds the best BBQ pit out there! I did not get to meet him because I picked my pit up a day early. I did spend about 20,000 hours on the phone with him though! He is a hoot! Knows his craft! Woody

Yup....LOVE that last picture. What a great expression on Dave's face....and James.

When Dave delivered my pit in 2001, He spent a few days here at my place. I honestly felt really blessed. Whatta nice man. We went to dinner, did some sightseeing and my neighbor stopped over while he was here. I got to see Dave sit in a Cobra Gunship Chopper. My neighbor is in the guard. I swear he is one of the nicest guys you would ever meet in your life.

Wish I had know ya then. I grew up in Galveston. i would have had my Mom take you to her fishing and crabbin spots. Then she coulda made you a pot of Gumbo.

All these comments are making me feel really good that I ordered my new pit from Dave. Can't wait till it arrives.
