• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Heading to Kansas City, KS area for a wedding this weekend. I'll be staying in Overland Park but want to know where is the must got to Q joint. Is it Arthur Bryant's or is there a better place to get KC style BBQ?

Never been to AB but most folks say to stay away. Oklahoma Joes is the place to go. The Z-man is the best sammy, and the ribs are good too. They have 2 locations, the origional one is closer to downtown but the south location is next door to a great BBQ equipment store and near a Bass Pro Shop. I'm also a fan of LC's over by the stadiums on the west side. I like the burnt ends but last time I needed to finish them in my oven as they were not tender enough. I always talk to LC when I'm there too. Finally I and several others like Gates. The ribs are good and well as a killer brisket sammy. Many locations all around town.

Now ifin you want some killer fried chicken, go to Strouds. Two locations, the south is the original. The north one is on I-35.

Have a good time my friend. :thumb:

I have nothing to add except to say have a great time :-D

All I hear about is Oklahoma Joe's, so I'd check them out for sure.

I ate at Jack Stack in the freight house several years ago and I really enjoyed it, plus it's a cool building. However that was a few years before I started barbecuing, so I don't have a current take on it.

I could add to the list, but I really don't think you could notice much difference between any of the top joints, they are all that good, although I think AB and Jack Stacks would be at the bottom of the list.

OKAY.... I eat bbq in KC about 3 times per week lol.... MY personal favorite is Danny Edwards, however they're only open during lunch hours. Danny is there personally slicing the meet and makes sure everything is cooked correctly.

The most consistent is Danny Edwards, OK Joes, and Jack Stack, and those are my top 3 favorite by far.

Arthur Bryants (Original location) and Gates can be amazing, but can also be terrible.

If you go to AB, get burnt ends. I think a lot of people go and are disappointed when they order anything else. My KC office is right behind AB and I go and get burnt ends whenever I can. That said, the Z-Man at OK joes is my favorite sandwich anywhere. The crown beef rib at Jack Stack is very good too.

As an aside, if you go to AB and have time, the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum is right up the street and one of KC's best kept secrets.
