• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Just bought a pork belly, what the heck do I do with it?

I've never even seen a pork belly in real life. So while walking through Costco today and seeing them I had to grab one. So now what do I do, make bacon, smoke it straight up?

Oh yeah, smoked pork belly tacos.
 
So if I just rubbed it up and smoked it what kind of texture would it have? Is it like butt? There is so much fat that I can't imagine it rendering out. Think I'm leaning toward bacon but that porchetta looks amazing.
 
Make bacon with half of it and then roast the other half. If you've never had pork belly besides it being bacon your life is about to change forever.
 
I have never done one yet but I would smoke it first and then fry it in a skillet :biggrin1:
 
Smoke it hotter and longer, and it will render out. I did not feel like I was chewing a wad of fat. I felt like I was chewing a nice tender piece of pork.
