• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

I have used the Pecan Rub several times on butts and it always gets great reviews on other forums. Just today I placed an order for two of the "Texas sized" Pecan Rubs (29oz each). I haven't tried the Honey Rib Rub, but it sounded good so I placed that with today's order too - that was 12 oz I believe. All said and done, $14 in shipping, a bit steep if you ask me, but I didn't have any other choice.

There is a place in NJ that does sell his line of rubs (and they are not listed on the JH Website, go figure), but they are a 45 minute drive from me, and I am not there often, so today I placed my first order online with JH's website - we'll see how that goes.

In the past I tried I believe the Apple Chipotle rub from JH as well, certainly brings the heat, but for those that liked that style, they really enjoyed the wings I made with it.

I placed an order on the JH site for a variety of spices and rubs but did not see the Wild Cherry Chipolte. So I followed up with a call, Mr. Henry called me back himself and gave me the phone number of the shipping department, telling me they would be able to add it to the order.

I made the call and was just in time to catch the rest of my order, the nice young lady on the phone said five minutes more and it would have been out the door. I love good quick service.

I credited this forum as the source of the sale as well. I am looking forward to the new flavors of rub to try....

Well I went out and got the Pecan Rub, going to use it on some St. Louis ribs for mother's day:becky: it taste like it will be a good rub for pork ribs will see.

I use his Garlic Pepper rub, picked up at BBQ's Galore, on tater wedges. Did it once, and that got a few buddies of mine requesting it everytime I cook.

I'm going to resurrect this thread from 07:thumb:, I've Google d if there are any reviews of John Henry's Rubs if anyone uses them and nothing but this old thread pops up. Well I have used the brisket rub and its great(just n tha backyard), I want to try his pecan rub I mean JH is still in business so has anyone used his rubs in any comps with any success or for anything :confused:

I've used the JH stuff at home on & off over the years... I no longer compete, but I used to use the Wild Cherry Chipotle in comps for a while and had several top 5 finishes in pork with it.

Aside from the WCC, I've also used Summer Peach, Pecan, Texas Pig & Texas Brisket etc.. most are good stuff, but I agree with Willkat's old post that it clumps heavily. You can easily go through a bottle very quickly as it's very dense and clumpy compared to other rubs that are very fine/granular

May need to some more JH stuff again for home use this spring/summer

i'm a big fan of the Pecan Rub but didn't care for the Raspberry Chipotle. Will have to check out the Peach.

Cool thx man I'll have to give WCC a try also want to try summer peach the guy bbq galore was talking about it..

I like the JH Pecan for Pork but it clumps into small balls. Tried the JH Butter Pecan (all that was in stock that day) and it clumped up bad, almost the entire jar. Then I tried the Pecan rub using a saltine Cracker in the jar. It helped a lot!

Clumping issues ...

Just a idea if JH's rub clumps up or for any rub, you should try putting it in a ziploc bag and use a rolling pin or a can of some sort to break it up.
