• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

I have made jerkey several times with the High Mountain products. I've done beef, chicken and turkey. I have done it in a smoker and in my oven. I caught an old episode of Good Eats a month or so back and Alton did it with the box fan and furnace filters in other words cold air dehydration. Has anyone tried this? Also any opinions appreciated?

i love alton but he kinda gets a little ...i dunno...overkill maybe? I put mine on dehyrdator and does fine. Also , lots of time , I will put it on smoker for just an hour or so to get some real smoke flavoring then onto dehyrdator.

I also love Alton. I've always meant to try this method but have never gotten around to it. Seems like it would be a truer form of dehydration. Anyone tried it?

I have done the fan thing. I smoked the strips first to add some flavor at 140f for 2 hours then on the fan. Worked like a charm.

I've done it with beef and venison with great success.
