Hey guys, I want to make these beans for a party this weekend. I have 2 questions if anyone who’s made them can help me with. First question is am I supposed to drain all the liquid that’s in the can ? It says to use Busch’s baked beans but Dosent specify to drain or not. Last question is a little frowned upon but had anyone done them in a crockpot. My smoker will be filled with meat !!!

I have NOT made Myron's beans before but had them at the Competition BBQ class I took of his for dinner her made us.
They where very good.
To answer your question I am going out on a limb and say do not drain as that will be part of the liquid and flavor in your beans.

Crock pot would be fine but you will not develop that top texture like he does with his beans in a crock pot. If your smoker if full maybe hit them in the oven.

I thought they were basically Hog Apple Beans, only with peach pie filling. KeriC's recipe calls for 'mostly draining' the beans.

Keri's Hog-Apple Baked Beans

3 or 4 slices bacon, diced
2 (16 oz) cans pork and beans, mostly drained (modified to 2 28-oz cans Bush's Baked Beans - see note below)
1/2 c. Blues Hog BBQ Sauce (or other sweet-spicy favorite)
1 lb. smoked leftover smoked pork or beef, more or less, or 1 lb crumbled cooked pork sausage
1 can apple pie filling
1 medium onion, chopped
1/2 green pepper, chopped
1/2 c. brown sugar
2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
2 Tbsp. Mustard (prepared)
1 tsp chipotle or cayenne powder (optional, to taste*)
1 tsp Blues Hog barbecue rub (or your favorite de jour)

Brown bacon, and saute onion and green pepper in bacon grease. Mix in remaining ingredients. Bake at 325º for 1 hour, or simmer on stovetop in large pot for 30 minutes if you don't have time to do them in the oven. Serves 12.

This recipe began life as APPLE PIE BAKED BEANS from somewhere on the web, but I think I've made enough changes to it now to claim it as my own. This is my standard for baked beans anymore.

*This is a rather spicy recipe due to the chipotle/cayenne powder. Feel free to leave it out if you'll be feeding those who prefer a less spicy taste.

Update... Jack's Old South does something similar to this, but I understand that they use peach pie filling instead.

Check out Wanpus Award winning beans. They are awesome. He is a member here and recipe is posted

I've made Keri's beans, delicious. I've eaten Wampus's beans at the last Ohio Bash, delicious as well and I've also made a version of Myron's beans, also delicious. You won't go wring with any of them.

I generally go with Keri's recipe, then double it (beans freeze great!) and use 1 can of the apple pie filling, and one of peach pie filling. Sometimes I'll add pineapple as well.

I forgot to mention that in order to save yourself some time if you decide on trying a version of Keri's or Jacks Old South beans you should print several copies of the recipe because I guarantee you will get requests. Two years ago I wrote out the recipe for Hog Apple beans on an oversize index card so people could use their smart phones and snap a photo.
