• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

It is alive!!!! Thanks Phil

I'm wish I could have been there as I'm stuck at work! Bandera looks great, and so does the meat. Nice therms! Someone gave the tip of putting them in a ziplock, and closing around the wire.

That (was) my BABY!!!!!! Now with her new daddy and a new diaper on.

My bandera sat in the yard for nearly 3 years untouched. Since i got the BYC and MOAB and the WSMS, she just sat in my pit area, soley as a symbol of this group. I did not have the heart to get rid of her even though I promised it to my cousin who i later found out wont eat any meat with bones in it. No chicken, no ribs, no fish, and he hates pork. He called it a "brisket cooker". He also gets most of his meals from 7/11. i just thought it be an insult to send the little beast to pasture only to be used to cook an occasional brisket... maybe. I prefered to just keep painting her and oiling her whenever i did it to the other pits. Without that cooker in my yard, this group never would have formed(at least not under the current heading). So theresa bit of sentimental value there.

In passing, smoker mentioned he needed for a new pit...... Wow..A brethren, a team mate and a big yard. The perfect home for her. I had a brand new backup firebox I got when i first bought her.. gave it to Steve and he gave her a facelift with that new firebox...

Steve.. you got the roots of The Brethren right there. Its great to see her belchin sweet blue again. Take care of her. *snif snif*.... Maybe i can come visit to say hi occasionally.

oh.. Steve... I forgot to answer in the PM.. the gasket rope does NOT go on the left wall of the door where the hinges are. That side seals tight without it and ya cant closwe the door if ya put it on that side.

Smoker - I can't believe how great that bandera looks! I saw it rotting away in Phil's yard. You really resurected her. Great job! The ribs look excellent, like an old pro cooked them.

Now, I have a bone to pick with you. You do a cook on a brethren box and don't invite your brothers, your team mates, over for the inaguration?

ROTTING AWAY!!!! OUCH THATS HARSH.. she got sprayed and oiled everytime I cooked on the others. RUST is NOT rotting away on a bandera. Its considered BATTLE SCARS... they add character.

Settig that aside...

Smoker.. ahem ahem...... BQ is right.. you had a maiden voyage without US....

very bad... now u must cook again.

My Bad. A thousand pardons. Truth is I feel like I'm bothering people when I ask them to help me, which explains a new fence I just put in with 27 new fence posts, each placed in 2 foot holes dug by hand then filled with 50 lbs of concrete. My brother was pissed I never called him for help. That being said, I owe you the Cherry chipolte and I owe Phil some rub so lets get together and cook ASAP.I can even take a day off during the week if you guys want, otherwise maybe this weekend if the weather holds.

So that baby is the roots of this forum, eh? Nice story, Phil and Steve! And good looking ribs too! I'm starting to get hungry!

Yes! It does the heart and mind and body good to see a Bandera brought back to life! Especially THE Bandera.

Love it; Learn it; Live it.

Ok. Its been a long day. Im going to bed now.

Those are some great looking ribs. Here I am sitting here eating a breakfast of Smoked saugage, and hash browns. Look on the siteand what is the 1st thing I see. Those ribs. I think a shopping trip is called for, and I better not get 1 honey-do on my day off tomorrow. I am cooking something on th elittle cooker outside.

Well, they look good. How did they taste?

They were rubbed with Butt-Rub and when it came time to sauce them I used 3 different sauces. Of course then I lost track of which was which as I moved them from rack to rack. My wife and my my neighbor loved them. As usual I thought they were missing something. They were definitely overdone. As soon as I tried cutting them with a very sharp Henckel knife they fell off the bone. Again, the wife and neighbor LOVED that part. All I kept thinking about was that McRib sandwhich Phil posted the other day. I wanted to order a couple of garlic breads from the local pizza place but the ribs were disappearing to fast. It was my first time usingthe Bandera so I was behind the learning curve on fire control. The temps stayed mostly around 200 and after 3 hours the ribs didn't pull back from the bone much so I think they stayed on for another hour and then 2 hours in foil. I'll keep trying!!! :)

That has to be one of the longest smoking cigarettes I have ever seen
