Gandule Rice, a Puerto Rican dish, adapted to the local Hawaiian flavors...almost like the original...
Sauteed chopped pork steaks in Anchote oil, w/ onion and bell peppers
added cumin, salt, pepper, bayleaf, tomato sauce
added rice, and water, pidgeon peas, and olives, simmered until rice abosorbed liquid, finished in oven, you're suppose to add cilantro, but I forgot to buy
I hear that Goya makes a seasoning packet, for this...make your base strong so that when you add your rice and water it won't be bland tasting...enjoy!
