• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Business lunch at Ruth's Chris steakhouse yesterday.

First time there. Not a bad place at all. Steak was cooked to perfection at 1800 degrees, served on a 500 degree plate, slathered in a fine grade butter.

Then last night, after our neighbors wake, we stopped for take out at White Fence Farm. This is some down home farm cooking, we opted for chicken this time around. The stuff is cooked in a pressure cooker, then fried to order in minutes at a high heat (per Food TV). Very crispy, even after the 20 minute ride home

Wow! Ruth's Chris, and White farm in the same day? You must be living right my friend.

That chicken looks GREAT. Never heard of White Fence Farm, though. I live such a deprived existence...

Went to the Ruth Chris Steakhouse in Metairie, LA, years back. My wife and I got up and left after looking at their menu. My thought and statement was literally, "You gotta be chittin' me! Ain't NO steak meal worth that!"

And now you don't know for sure. I like going there. Food is phenonenal and the service is second to none.

If it's good enough for Rush, it's good enough for me. I just need to find someone else to pay for the meal. Luckily the closest one is 100 miles away. My brother travels all over in his work and is always taking clients out to top shelf restaraunts and he speaks very highly of Ruth's Chris.

You are correct sir! But I don't sit and wonder what I missed either.

Seriously, though - is it worth all that? Their 100% a la carte menu and those prices hit me as outlandish and very arrogant. That's the first and only place I just got up and left from without even ordering.

I know someone who used to work for Ruth's Chris but never could get down to visit her while she was there. Guess I'll have to pay full price when I go.

It's pretty good. I've always been able to write it off when I've been though. Locally in the DFW area I'd prefer Bob's Steak and Chop House. Prices are close, but the food is even better. Pappas Bros. is the same story.

Every steak house here is a la carte (Keefer's, Mortons, Smith & Wollensky, etc). You truly do get what you pay for. S&W dry aged monsters are the real deal.

Lunch menu yesterday actually had salad and potato included, which I was actually shocked at seeing. Dinner menu is al a carte.

I'm not knocking the Lonestar's of the world, but traditional Chicago steakhouses are more an "experience" than a meal. Hell, lunch was well paced and still was a full 2 hours.

There's a branch in Colorado, and its worth the drive

Thanks, Bill! I was up in the Springs a couple of weeks ago and will go back. This time I'll have time to dink around. May make the drive up and try that!

And I don't mind knocking the Lonestars of the world. Those aren't real steakhouses IMO. We've got one here in OKC called Cattlemen's http://www.cattlemensrestaurant.com/ that cooks GREAT steaks at decent prices. There's no "top shelf" foolishness either. ;)

Interesting place I usually found myself in whenever I was at Carson. Keep in mind I'd probably been over served before walking in the front door though:oops:

I've never heard of that place, Jorge, but you can be sure I'll try it! I enjoyed Judge...Baldwin's the last time I was there. Dunno if they're still around though.

I ate at that very Ruth's Chris In the eighties( it's the original) and it was worth it! Excellant steak!

i went to the ruth Chris in Washington DC several times.. Yeah, it was good, i would not tell anyone not to go.. yes, its a good resturant.. but...

i never thought of it as anything but a nice place and overpriced. The steaks were nothing to write home about. I was expecting 'KYDITD" socks rolling up and down, eyes rolling in head.. and i got.......... A steak.

not disappointing, just an "oh well"... did torque me that the potato was 5 bucks and the salad was 5 bucks on top of a $40 steak, but thats what some places do, especially when they ride on a reputation with white gloved waiters and waterford crystal, but me personally, Slap a great steak on a paper plate and I'm in heaven. i dont need all the fru fru and would prefer not to pay for it. But still, no way you can keep me out of the top shelf steak houses regardless.. they are there, so ya gotta use em.

now remember..SALT ISLAND in orlando.. pass out an roll on the floor porterhoses for 32 bucks.. with sides.!!!

My trip got cancelled this week there.. & i was dreaming about that place all last week.

GEE, thank you SOOO much for pointing that out..

Well.. correction.. $29 for a 30 oz porterhouse with sides..

but chit.. i didnt know you can get gorgonzola with the steaks..

hmmmmmmmmmm i do STILL have my plane tickets.,,, And i WILL fly down there if we can have a mini bash with the FlaFos at Salt Island.

Ruth's Chris is OK... Of course, if someone else is paying, it's great!

If I'm going to pay too much for a steak in Chicago, I'm going to Gene and Georgetti! It's the model for so many steakhouses. Its been around forever.

Finally, Bill, with all due respect, YOU ARE A FARKER! Posting a picture of White Fence Farm chicken is just not fair! My parents want to go out for dinner on Sunday, so I think we're going to WFF thanks to your picture! I love their chicken, but the corn fritters are the best!

Ron,
Don't forget the mashed tater with the yellow butter gravy, or the pickled beets.
