• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

When I leave my job this week, I pass a dead Yoshino Cherry tree.
Its on a Golf Course that has been sold, and a school is being built.
The tree fronts the extremely busy road, but there is the old turnoff to the defunct golf course.
I am either gonna go hot and fast
(chainsaw and dump big pieces into my van, )
or wear a green outfit like road guys, and
do it low and slow, acting like road workers.
Almost a Hot verse slow comp.
Wish me luck. Fairfax County, VA, I'll say I'm cleaning up the trash.
I don't need the wood at all, it's calling to me for my friends...
Cherry is nearly as smooth as Pecan, which is the best.
Flowering trees, cherry, apple, etc., have good wood.
Anyone local to DC wants some, I can cut more, I was only taking a little bit for friends.
I was going to leave some. I can cut it if you want.
When I get arrested, please give me the proper spelling of your name....
ha not happening - LEOs do not go in this heavy traffic area.

Good luck!
Thanks - if a LEO shows up, I will say I am cutting dead wood.
I am telling you, this area is so busy, no LEO would ever check a cherry chainsaw
maniac. No way. Offers for free cherry to you guys.
Need to check while cutting -
is the wood SOLID? If its rotted, I am not taking it.
There are alot of sticks on the ground.
We'll see tomorrow - OPERATION CHERRY!

This tree is OURS. No question. I figured it out.
Anyone want cherry wood is in. I have to make sure when
I cut it tomorrow its solid. I thik the limbs on the ground are no good, but the trunks are OK up to a point.
I use this Cherry all the time and its nice.
You gotta tell me if you want some wood please!!!
I have enough etc...

If you weren't an hour and a half away, I'd say load me up. But I've got no way to carry it as I've sold my truck. I wish you luck anyway because I'm with Chris... I think you're nuts! But I love it too. The Great Cherry Wood Caper! :becky:

I bet no one would even care, but I wish you luck.

I snuck out late one night in college with a saw to cut a tree branch that smacked my noggin twice a day. I felt like James Bond crossed with a ninja crossed with a Navy SEAL. In reality the other students probably appreciated the efforts too!

Re

I've got a similar issue with a dead cherry tree RIGHT NEXT DOOR to me in a vacant lot (lot's for sale too) My HOA are Nazi's so I'm really hesitant to just walk over and start cutting the tree down. I'd be set for quite a while on wood if I got the ok to cut it down. You should be fine, I'm only about 50 minutes away from Fairfax, I'd love to score some of that cherry but I just junked my old pickup and I have no way to haul it back home.

why am I hearing the Mission Impossible theme in my head? Dum dum da da dum dum...

I'm picturing a full ghillie suit...we really need pictures!

I would LOVE some of that wood. I'm in MD as well - Bowie. Let me know if you need help. Ill bring my SUV. :):):)

I can see it now,EPA,Homeland, capture mad man with chainsaw cutting down cherry tree on future school site.

Well, if you get caught just start your confession with "I can not tell a lie" and everything should work out fine.

Crazy dude. I would do it in stages so no one notices. Sneak over a cut a foot or two off. Next week, another foot or two. Repeat until only a stump...

THE DEED IS DONE! Part 1. I cut one limb down, cut the lowest part into 3-foot sections. Some old couple pulled up for some reason and I left. Going back tomorrow for more.
so no one notices.
Only about 500 cars passed by, no chance of stealth at all.
