• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Local Sam's Club had the Igrill2 on sale a couple of weeks ago for $60 so I bit.

Got everything connected this morning to smoke a couple of butts. An overwhelming number of setting and options. Not much good with a lousy Bluetooth connection that drops every coulpe of minutes, at distances of 50 feet or less.

Anyone have suggestions for a future wireless thermometer purchase?

Thanks!

i love my igrill2. Play with it for a few minutes and it is not as complex as it looks. I have not had much of an issue dropping connection. If you are more than a few feet away the devise will shut down to conserve battery, but you just push a button and it wakes up. Sorry you don't like yours.

Thanks.

Maybe I expected more than its meant to be. I thought that I would be able to at least sit inside (50 and one exterior wall away from the unit). If I have to go outside to turn it off and back on again to reconnect, it sort of defeats the purpose.

Mine went back for that reason. Very annoying.

My Blue Therm Duo allows me to sit inside and keeps a running graph of my temps.
I highly recommend it.

My Maverick works great. Smoker in the back left of the house, my office in the front right. No issues unless the batteries start running low. I bought a Bluetherm Duo and it kept disconnecting.

I haven't had mine long but the range seems better here that my maverick had. The Mav was a lower end one though. Seems like there is a lot of variability on how any of these types of devices work at different locations

I have a Maverick ET-733. It works 90 feet away through 2 walls and down a flight of stairs. It is not Bluetooth but it works very well.

I have the Et 732 and can go all over the house without it dropping signal. I am about to get a tappacue, although it uses wifi. Apparently you can check your cook even if you have to run to the store for something.

I haven't had that problem with the iGrill2. Mine is running right now but I am maybe 20-25 feet to it. I did have a problem with one of the probe positions on the unit after accidentally leaving it outside in the rain (the position that was plugged in is the one that no longer works accurately.). Try shifting positions and see if it works better.

I think the igrill 2 sucks also....mine loses connection just at the point where i like to plop my fat ass on the couch in between splits (also about 50 feet, maybe less). Bluetooth blows. My maverick easily had 2-3 times the range.

i got an email from tappacue, the sale is for remaining stock of V1. when V2 comes out the price will go back to $199 ( mid june )

Tappecue is awesome; expensive but awesome. Hooks to your router and anywhere you have internet you have your temps. Love love love it.
