Everytime I watch the old episode where they are in Kentucky and say "Kentucky bbq is mutton." NOBODY in Kentucky outside of Owensboro bbq's mutton. I wouldn't eat mutton if it were prepared by a Michelin chef. Arrrgh

We used to have an annual Sheepherders Fair, and some of the cooks used mutton, both roasted and in stews. I've eaten yearling lamb my entire life and mutton is way too strong for me.

And Marion and Paducah. I moved away from West KY 20+ years ago and miss the hell out of mutton. I get some to bring home every time I visit. Grew up in Union County, so Peak Bros. in Waverly was a favorite and still is.
